no birds, just bees

This is one of my photos for the colorful group I belong to called Shades of Inspiration.  This week our challenge is the combination of pink and green.  

I have the most beautiful weed vine growing in my backyard.  It's probably choking out real plants, but I just love it so much I refuse to cut it down.  Yesterday I went out to shoot this picture and it was being swarmed by bees.  I carefully snapped a few photos and went inside... I'm just not into getting stung, but the shot was worth a little risk.

A shrug and scarf set I made and sold on eBay last year.  I really love Masyn in this picture, the soft blues just seem to suit her perfectly.  

I can't believe what a baby she looks like in this photo, she seems so much older now...  I'm going to cry a bit, my babies are all getting so big!

Another post about a group I am joining...  no books, just pictures!

Sadie Olive (LeJournal) is hosting a fun photography group on flickr and I am really excited to FINALLY be able to participate.  

It's all based on using colors for inspiration for pictures.  This week's color is White/Ivory.  Using the most intelligent fibers of my being, I took the girls out for ice cream yesterday with the intention of shooting great pictures of vanilla!  

The cones began to melt within 30 seconds, it was a huge mess.  Masyn's OCD went into overdrive and she was very worried about the dripping, sticky cone.  Evelyn was a bit upset about being messy, but she wasn't so bothered that she couldn't smear it around and squish it all between her fingers. 

My responsible side kicked in *snicker* and I encouraged the mess.  Soothing Masyn by telling her I had wipes in the car and I would let her help me wash the car at home to get ALL the ice cream off her.  That did the trick and she calmed a bit.  We snapped some fun melting pictures, broke a good sweat, and washed the car after.  It was a good idea after all.

The heat here is so intense it made even the toughest golfer end his round on hole 13.  :o(

Just look what 98 degrees and NO wind can do to a scoop of vanilla Blue Bell!

fresh and not

May is the month of "Freshness" at Self Portrait Challenge.

While in Portland, I had a couple opportunities to eat at the Macaroni Grill. The first time we were seated indoors, and although the food was great, eating outside had enough appeal to bring me back again for another try at a sidewalk table.

The second time proved to be a charm. My party and I scored a great outdoor table and I ordered a deliciously fresh salad.

While eating I decided it would be a good shot for May's theme, but for more reasons than one. I noticed after snapping my shot, that my fingernail polish exemplifies the opposite of fresh! I needed to repaint them so badly, I was almost embarrassed to show this picture. Almost. :o)

fresh: root to end

Today is Self Portrait Tuesday. Unlike last week, I actually do feel fresh right now. Today I had my hair colored, and that always goes a LONG way with making me feel new and fresh.

I went a bit darker (aiming for a Kate Beckinsale color as she appears on the cover of Allure last month). I really am pleased with the outcome.

Now I admit, I feel a bit more prepared for my upcoming trip!

For those of you who have followed my blog for a long while, you might recall that Tuesday was a day I did this thing called "Self Portrait Challenge."

Well, I have decided to do reinstate this in my blogging habits.

May's theme is fresh.

Nothing about me feels fresh right now. I have an appointment to freshen my hair color and cut next week. I will be painting my toenails, next week. This list could get long, but for the sake of monotony I'm ending it. It is sufficient for me to say, this week is not my freshest week.

It dawned on me this afternoon, that there is one thing that gets fresh pretty often. Adonis.

What did you think; that my hands were really that hairy?!

My bum. His hand. Yep, that's getting fresh.
