...and a box upon your head

I kind of expect Evelyn to do funny things like wear a shoe box on her head.  She is only 2 after all.  

I also get that Avery is 9 and wants to still have those "I'm a cute little girl too" moments so she copies her baby sister.  My head wraps around that one fairly easily.  This changing age she is in has many sensitive points which I try to recognize and encourage her through.  

Masyn just lost me on this...  I guess it was a :monkey see, monkey do" situation.  That's not typically Masyn's style, but it's the only explanation I can think of for her wearing the $4.00 flip flop box on her head too.  

Oh yeah, and don't you just love my 4 year old throwing up the "duece" sign?!  I wish I could bottle and sell this girl's antics.  She needs her own show, seriously.

rationale to my slobbish tendencies...

As it turns out, there is a medical issue (although not fully diagnosed or treated yet) behind my recent woes of feeling like a slacker all the time.

I went to the doctor this week, because I have had a myriad of symptoms that are signaling a problem with my thyroid.  However, what the doctor is more concerned with at the moment is the fact that I am anemic.  

Now I get to take these huge pills (which are super charged with iron and other vitamins, enough to make the pharmacist raise his eyebrow and give me a warning of their strength) and then I have to wait an hour before I can eat or drink anything, except for water or orange juice.  

So I can't say that I have my energy back yet, but it certainly feels a little better to understand why I keep zonking out and feeling so drained all the time.  I am hoping that I will soon be able to report of progress in the area of my health.  For now I appreciate the understanding from all who have endured my lack of get-up-and-go that I once took for granted.

In August we can all celebrate being a little more "well read."  *I snicker, because I am reading some sort of "ghoulish" books this summer.*

Currently I have been reading The Vampire Chronicles, on Patty's recommendation.  However, I am going to put them on hold, because I my summer goal is to re-read the Twilight series, but Stephenie Meyer... in anticipation of the 4th and final book coming out in August!  I read these books last year and I am really anxious to start them again, the series is really good!  

I am not a habitual reader of vampire literature.  I was raving about the Twilight books to Patty and she informed me that I needed to read The Vampire Chronicles because they are the "original" vampire novels. Both series have really been fun to read, though they have significant differences in tone, language, and style.  V.C. are much more languid and poetic, while the Twilight books are edge-of-your-seat-love-story-types.  I have to admit, Edward Cullen is my favorite vampire so far. ;o)

I hope you will join us and have some happy reading, perhaps poolside or on the beach... oh wouldn't that be the life?!

we're not getting along, my blog and me

For some reason, I can't get my blog to cooperate with me today. I have been working for well over an hour to try and share some pictures and cannot get them to load. Also my little side picture seems to have disappeared. :o( 

When typepad help gets back to me with some answers, I should have some new pictures to share from my Portland trip!

Today a suspicion has been confirmed.

My nose always leads me to the celebrity fragrances. Not the ones that seem all fancy and classy, I mean the ones you see and go "hmm...now they have a perfume too?!"

Yes, I love those.

Not purposefully. It's just how I seem to lean. Given two perfumes and a blindfold, I can guarantee I would choose the one made by a teen celeb over one, say by an elite designer label.

As I have purchased over the past few years... Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, and Gwen Stefanie, I thought something was amiss with my taste. Today though, as I picked up a black bottle from the checkout counter of Sephora, I found a new scentl I love. Curious as to what it was, I then looked at the bottle.... the name scrawled across the front of the black bottle... Sean John.

So there you have it. My little scent-confession. Now I am off to scour the internet for the best price and hopefully score a bottle of this luscious new fragrance.
