Dear Readers,
Dear Readers,
Our July 4th weekend trip which I mentioned last week was great. I am in the midst of packing for an upcoming move, but eager to share pictures of our getaway.... so it's going to be bit by bit. Here are a few pictures I snapped when we first arrived.
They are the best of friends... even though they often claim the opposite.
Literally. Not only do I feel like I have been driving myself full force, but I have had my toe to the pedal in many areas of life!
I know, it's hard to believe a story like this, but keep an open mind as you read the following TRUE story.
Masyn woke the other day in a really funny and talkative mood. While I was dressing for school she began to tell me that she had created a word and what it meant. Here is how our conversation went.
Masyn: Mama, I have a new word.
Me: Oh, really? What is this new word?
Masyn: Bring out the rum.
Me: (stifling laughter) Hmmm.. tell me about it.
Masyn: Well.... (emphatic pause) it's what you say when you are trying to reach someone, and you can't, and you are frustrated, and it's only 8:36 in the morning... you can say "bring out the rum."
Me: (holding my stomach and laughing without possibly restraint) Wow, that's very insightful baby.
Masyn: Yes, and if you need to say it while you are on the potty, you can say "Rock out the rum."
Me: (just laughter at this point)
Masyn: It also means "car," in Spanish.
I love this kid!
XOXO- Amelia
February 12th, 2004...God gave me an amazing Valentine, Masyn Elise. Just two short years later I was gifted again with Evelyn Blair on February 13th!
We went to the park Saturday to play and take some yummy pictures, here is a taste of our spoils.
Tomorrow we begin celebrating...Masyn has requested that we go get donuts, with the stipulation that we remain in our jammies for the trip to the shop. I like this plan already...

Change is something I thrive on. Like adding a generous amount of spice to an otherwise bland meal, new things give me a since of excitement in ordinary things about my life. Such as my hair for instance.
My locks have seen just about every usual color there is and a few odd colors (pink, green, and black namely). Coloring my hair to spice up my life has become a thing of the past. I'm treating my hair nicely from now on, damage to my tresses taught me to stay safe. Since I am trying to grow my hair long, dry ends and damaged shafts are NOT my best friends. What then, if color and major style changes are out, can bring me that high elicited from changing my mane?
I got bangs.
Yes, thick and runway chic bangs. They are an adjustment, but I am enjoying the high fashion feel they have. Maybe I will share a picture...someday. ;o)
The real reason behind the post here isn't even my new stylin' do, the meat of this story is Masyn.
When I arrived home from my "bangin'" hair appointment, Masyn was just tickled pink and giggly. She ooh'ed and ahh'ed over my hair and begged to have her own bangs.
Loving her long grown out bangs, I was leary. After several hours of begging, I cratered and went straight to dial up the salon. Wow, immediate opening, lucky us.
Masyn was beside herself, asking me at least once every 10 minutes, if it were time to go yet. I had no idea what lay in store for us and I certainly wouldn't have guessed it would be the following....
Upon being smocked and squirted with water, Masyn began to get nervous. Her nerves escalated to the point of vomiting. I'm serious, I had to run her to the trash can and the sweet stylist cut her hair while she stood by the waste basket just in case of an "emergency."
Mortified and gagging from the smell, I held and comforted Masyn as much as possible. When it was over she was fine and back to her bouncing self. So much in fact, that she moved just as the beautician was cutting her bangs. Masyn is now sporting ultra-trendy short bangs! Not what we first planned, but she looks pretty darn cute.
If you stuck around to read my hair saga, you totally deserve a visual....so here is the new banged up Masyn Elise.
