here

Dear Readers,

We are here, in our new house (a rental that I LOVE!!!), unpacked for the most part, even pictures on the walls.  Since I haven't had access to the internet in about a week (possibly more), Adonis and I were able to accomplish a lot.

The first few days we "roughed" it a bit, since we had bouts with the power and gas not being turned on in time.  Those days were interesting, and I appreciate every single warm shower I take now.

My poor, neglected camera hasn't seen the outside of her bag in over a week, but I promise to remedy that this week and share something soon.  I am missing her and my trigger finger is getting rusty.  Hopefully I remember how to even take a picture.

Masyn and Evelyn will begin pre-school Monday, and I have my first shift at work tonight!  Yesterday was my training day and I must tell you, I am stoked to work in such an amazing store

I want to say a big thank you to each of you who sent emails (sorry they went un-answered for so long) and have texted me to encourage Adonis and I through this move.  I'm so grateful to have this web based support and friendship.  Thank you!!

ps ~  Before I left I interviewed with Boutique Buyer's Blog... and HERE is the link!  They were so kind to ask me and it was lots of fun!

the arrival

Our July 4th weekend trip which I mentioned last week was great.  I am in the midst of packing for an upcoming move, but eager to share pictures of our getaway.... so it's going to be bit by bit.  Here are a few pictures I snapped when we first arrived.

Searching for fish in the super clear water...

Adonis was explaining how the dam worked and how "Jake" (that's grandpa) has been fixing the holes so the water would pour over the top.

Two of my favorite people.

Masyn, just being Masyn.  Oh yes, that skirt she has on is a recent creation of mine, she has to have lots of "spin" in her skirts.  ;o)

Thanks for sharing our family fun~

double trouble

They are the best of friends... even though they often claim the opposite.

Masyn, the great adventure.  She is constantly putting me in stitches with her funny words and stories.  She has a laugh that is beyond contagious, it's practically lethal.  She is the boss, the head honcho, and her way always makes sense-- at least to her.  Masyn has a method and reason behind everything, and her world is utterly chaotic when people try to rearrange her order.  We call those her "OCD moments."  I love this kid so much.  In her own words, "I love Masyn 103 miles, and back."

Evelyn, the serious shadow.  My elfin darling is one step behind Masyn all the time.  Copying everything her big sisters say and do, Evelyn is a tiny powerhouse of sass.  However, she will stand her ground, and when she isn't happy, the pitch of her voice will raise so high that I promise our whole street might hear her scream.  She sternly stares down anyone who dares to speak to her before she has given her consent for them to address her.  I've never seen a little girl with more depth in her expressions.  Evelyn can truly give some dirty looks.  All her feistiness is wrapped in this tiny, long, adorable body.  She steals my heart every single day.

toe to the pedal

Literally.  Not only do I feel like I have been driving myself full force, but I have had my toe to the pedal in many areas of life!

First, I have been tired from the anemia and thyroid condition I mentioned in a previous post.  The medicine I have been taking makes me feel "not so good," so it's tough to have a day where I feel like I have lived to my full potential.

The next thing is that I have been trying to take time to sew.  So I have been pushing the pedal there.  ;o)  Does any other seamstress have to sew barefoot?  I just wonder if I am weird or something... Today I attempted to sew with flip flops on and I couldn't do it, I had to kick them off and go bare.  I might just be an oddball, it wouldn't be the first time.

Last weekend we spent in the hills by a lake.  It was super hot, but beautiful.  Although I didn't get more than my feet in the lake, I did manage to hike to the peak of a mountain... in white shorts and come out without getting more than my hands dirty!  I'm sort of proud about keeping my shorts dinge-free.

This weekend, to celebrate Independence Day, we are headed back!  I am packing a bathing suit this time and have a nice new float.  Hopefully I will return with a nice new bronze tan.  The girls are super excited, they had to stay home last weekend.  Tomorrow we hit the road for 5 hours... I'm going to try and capture the trip with pictures.

On my next vacation I want to bring pictures from here....

Monaco
...yes, that is very unlikely.  A girl can dream.

Avery, Masyn, and Evelyn are all packed, now it's time to pack my own bags.  Tomorrow is a big day and I will be starting bright and early to get my run in before we leave... so goodnight all!!!  Happy 4th of July!!

a little flatulence to honor dad

I know, it's hard to believe a story like this, but keep an open mind as you read the following TRUE story.

Evelyn came to me Friday, while I lounged on a chair with a hearty novel in my hands.  A serious read that I was quite enthralled in, so it was a surprising thing that she caught my attention so easily (she is typically a stealthy child that can sneak up on even the most alert of beings).  What really struck me first was her laughter.  Evelyn was giggling up a storm!

Oh, for new readers, Evelyn is my youngest, she is 2 years old (see cute picture below).

Back to story...

"Evy, what is so funny?" I ask.

"Mama, I have a new trick" she responds eagerly.  "I can make myself poot!"

My book is now tossed aside.

"Really!?!....like for real poot, or just with your mouth?" (i.e. like a raspberry sound, we call it "pooting with your mouth in my house)

"For real poot" she giggles, and then proceeds to demonstrate her newly perfected trick!

The girl eeks out 2 or 3 little pops of air!  Gross, I know, but seriously, I am sort of amazed by 3 things here:

1 - My 2 year old taught herself to poot.

2 - That she could do it on command

3 - That MAYBE she will figure out the potty now that she has the "push" method down!

Okay, sorry for the interruption again, return to story.

"Sweetie, we have to call Daddy and tell him about your new trick!"

Evelyn grins and puts her fingers in her mouth.

So I call Adonis, leave a message explaining the sound he is about to hear and then I put the phone in range to catch the, um... "noise."  "Pliiiph"  (cause that's how I think it sounded) She delivered it right on time and right into the receiver!

So, Happy Father's Day Adonis, I know you are so proud of your little Evy-Doo!

And Happy Father's Day to all Daddy's who might read this...

To everyone else, thank you for enduring my silly story!!!

masyn: on definitions

Masynrum1

Masyn woke the other day in a really funny and talkative mood. While I was dressing for school she began to tell me that she had created a word and what it meant. Here is how our conversation went.

Masyn: Mama, I have a new word.

Me: Oh, really? What is this new word?

Masyn: Bring out the rum.

Me: (stifling laughter) Hmmm.. tell me about it.

Masyn: Well.... (emphatic pause) it's what you say when you are trying to reach someone, and you can't, and you are frustrated, and it's only 8:36 in the morning... you can say "bring out the rum."

Me: (holding my stomach and laughing without possibly restraint) Wow, that's very insightful baby.

Masyn: Yes, and if you need to say it while you are on the potty, you can say "Rock out the rum."

Me: (just laughter at this point)

Masyn: It also means "car," in Spanish.

I love this kid!

goofy picture for a goofy mood

I'm pretty much completely silly today. I dug up this picture of Evelyn from last year and it fits so perfectly with my mood.

I made a bet with each member of my family that they could not view this picture without laughing.... I won all three bets!

my valentine gifts from years past...

February 12th, 2004...God gave me an amazing Valentine, Masyn Elise.  Just two short years later I was gifted again with Evelyn Blair on February 13th!

We went to the park Saturday to play and take some yummy pictures, here is a taste of our spoils.

Girlspark1

Tomorrow we begin celebrating...Masyn has requested that we go get donuts, with the stipulation that we remain in our jammies for the trip to the shop.  I like this plan already...

Masyn see, Masyn do.

Change.

Change is something I thrive on.   Like adding a generous amount of spice to an otherwise bland meal, new things give me a since of excitement in ordinary things about my life.  Such as my hair for instance.

My locks have seen just about every usual color there is and a few odd colors (pink, green, and black namely).  Coloring my hair to spice up my life has become a thing of the past.  I'm treating my hair nicely from now on, damage to my tresses taught me to stay safe.  Since I am trying to grow my hair long, dry ends and damaged shafts are NOT my best friends.  What then, if color and major style changes are out, can bring me that high elicited from changing my mane?

I got bangs.

Yes, thick and runway chic bangs.  They are an adjustment, but I am enjoying the high fashion feel they have.  Maybe I will share a picture...someday. ;o)

The real reason behind the post here isn't even my new stylin' do, the meat of this story is Masyn.

When I arrived home from my "bangin'" hair appointment, Masyn was just tickled pink and giggly.  She ooh'ed and ahh'ed over my hair and begged to have her own bangs.

Loving her long grown out bangs, I was leary.  After several hours of begging, I cratered and went straight to dial up the salon.  Wow, immediate opening, lucky us.

Masyn was beside herself, asking me at least once every 10 minutes, if it were time to go yet.  I had no idea what lay in store for us and I certainly wouldn't have guessed it would be the following....

Upon being smocked and squirted with water, Masyn began to get nervous.  Her nerves escalated to the point of vomiting.  I'm serious, I had to run her to the trash can and the sweet stylist cut her hair while she stood by the waste basket just in case of an "emergency."

Mortified and gagging from the smell, I held and comforted Masyn as much as possible.  When it was over she was fine and back to her bouncing self.  So much in fact, that she moved just as the beautician was cutting her bangs.  Masyn is now sporting ultra-trendy short bangs!  Not what we first planned, but she looks pretty darn cute.

If you stuck around to read my hair saga, you totally deserve a visual....so here is the new banged up Masyn Elise.

sad picture share

I promised that I would share a visual of the cropping that was done to Evelyn's hair.  Today I will consider "sad picture day" as this picture is absolutely pitiful.
