February 27, 2008

three letters to happiness

M A C

I've been waiting patiently for my new Adobe software to arrive so that I could make a full and official switch to my Apple... it finally came in the mail an I am beside myself with glee. I'm so happy I had to post and share that joy.

Well now I am off, I hear strange mumblings in the kitchen that sound very indicative of 3 small girls getting into things they aren't supposed to.

the warm before the storm

The past few days have found me inside, freezing, and listening to thunder roll and echo across a clouded sky.  Sheets of rain pounding the windows, causing me to curl my chilled toes with delight...

I love a storm.  Even though I have been working hard all weekend on homework, photography, and parenting...  the weather was making it easier for me.

Before that set in, we had a couple days of paradise.  One afternoon I took the girls outside to play and soak in lots of vitamin D, knowing that the glorious rain was about to set in.

My work has eased a bit (not all the way) and we are once again having clear skies and warmer temperatures!  The storms were nice while they were around, but I am always glad to get my fix and bid them farewell....  welcoming with open arms the sunshine and heat that makes my skin come alive!

my valentine gifts from years past...

February 12th, 2004...God gave me an amazing Valentine, Masyn Elise.  Just two short years later I was gifted again with Evelyn Blair on February 13th!

We went to the park Saturday to play and take some yummy pictures, here is a taste of our spoils.

Tomorrow we begin celebrating...Masyn has requested that we go get donuts, with the stipulation that we remain in our jammies for the trip to the shop.  I like this plan already...

without bribery

Because you all asked so sweetly and I don't want to leave you hanging.... here is a picture of my new bangs.

Masyn see, Masyn do.

Change.

Change is something I thrive on.   Like adding a generous amount of spice to an otherwise bland meal, new things give me a since of excitement in ordinary things about my life.  Such as my hair for instance.

My locks have seen just about every usual color there is and a few odd colors (pink, green, and black namely).  Coloring my hair to spice up my life has become a thing of the past.  I'm treating my hair nicely from now on, damage to my tresses taught me to stay safe.  Since I am trying to grow my hair long, dry ends and damaged shafts are NOT my best friends.  What then, if color and major style changes are out, can bring me that high elicited from changing my mane?

I got bangs.

Yes, thick and runway chic bangs.  They are an adjustment, but I am enjoying the high fashion feel they have.  Maybe I will share a picture...someday. ;o)

The real reason behind the post here isn't even my new stylin' do, the meat of this story is Masyn.

When I arrived home from my "bangin'" hair appointment, Masyn was just tickled pink and giggly.  She ooh'ed and ahh'ed over my hair and begged to have her own bangs.

Loving her long grown out bangs, I was leary.  After several hours of begging, I cratered and went straight to dial up the salon.  Wow, immediate opening, lucky us.

Masyn was beside herself, asking me at least once every 10 minutes, if it were time to go yet.  I had no idea what lay in store for us and I certainly wouldn't have guessed it would be the following....

Upon being smocked and squirted with water, Masyn began to get nervous.  Her nerves escalated to the point of vomiting.  I'm serious, I had to run her to the trash can and the sweet stylist cut her hair while she stood by the waste basket just in case of an "emergency."

Mortified and gagging from the smell, I held and comforted Masyn as much as possible.  When it was over she was fine and back to her bouncing self.  So much in fact, that she moved just as the beautician was cutting her bangs.  Masyn is now sporting ultra-trendy short bangs!  Not what we first planned, but she looks pretty darn cute.

If you stuck around to read my hair saga, you totally deserve a visual....so here is the new banged up Masyn Elise.
